2013-2014 House League Playoffs Match-ups and Timelines

 

 

Atom C – (3 teams)

 

1st round

 

Round robin

 

Finals (first team to 4 points is declared winner)

 

1st place team vs 2nd place team

 

Atom B, Peewee, Bantam, and Midget (6 teams)

 

1st round

 

1st place team and second place team get a bye to Round 2

Game 1: 3rd place vs 6th place team (sudden victory)

Game 2: 4th place team vs 5th place team (sudden victory)

 

Note: the team that ranked the highest at the end of the regular season will be the home team

 

Semi - Finals (2nd Round series, first team with 3 points moves on)

 

Winners of games 1 and 2 shall be re-ranked based on where they finished in the regular season. The winner who was ranked the highest shall be considered the 3rd place team for round 2, the 2nd highest team will be the 4th place team for round 2.

 

Series 1: 1st place team vs 4th place team (re-ranked)

Series 2: 2nd place team vs 3rd place team (re-ranked)

 

Finals (first team to 5 points is declared winner)

 

Series 3: Winner Series 1 and Series 2

 

Note: the team that ranked the highest at the end of the regular season will be the home team for the final game

 

 

 

Juvenile (7 teams)

 

1st round (First team with 3 points moves on)

 

1st place team gets a bye to Round 2

Series 1: 2nd place vs 7th place team

Series 2: 3rd place team vs 6th place team

Series 3: 4th place team vs 5th place team

Timelines for House league Playoffs

 

Points awarded: 2 points for a win, 1 point for a tie

 

Atom C

 

1st round: Friday February 28th to March 4th (5 days – round robin)

 

In the event that teams are tied in points at the end of the round robin Rule 20.0 of the District Three Constitution, Rules and Regulations will be used to break the tie and determine the teams and/or ranking for the finals.

 

Finals: March 5th to March 22nd (9 days – maximum 4 games)

 

Finals may start anytime in the first round if both teams are done early; therefore, be ready to play at any time.

 

First team to get 4 points wins. If upon entering the third game, both teams are tied in points (2 points each), this game will be the “final game” to determine the winner of this series (no fourth game will be required to be played). If the “final game” is tied at the end of regulation time then Sudden Victory – Overtime will be required.

 

Atom B, Peewee, Bantam and Midget

 

1st round: February 28th to March 1st (2 days - 1 game)

 

Sudden victory, winner moves on to the next round. If the game is tied at the end of regulation time then Sudden Victory – Overtime will be required to determine the winner.

 

2nd round: March 2nd to March 7th (6 days - maximum of 3 games)

 

First team to get 3 points wins. If upon entering the second game teams are tied in points (1 each), this game will be the “final game” to determine the winner of this series. If the “final game” is tied at the end of regulation time then Sudden Victory – Overtime will be required.

 

Note: Game 1 and game 2 can end in a tie with both teams awarded 1 point (no overtime will be played).

 

Finals: March 16th to March 30th (15 days - maximum 5 games)

 

First team to get 5 points wins. If upon entering the fourth game, both teams are tied in points (3 points each), this game will be the “final game” to determine the winner of this series (no fifth game will be required to be played). If the “final game is tied at the end of regulation time then Sudden Victory – Overtime will be required.

 

Juvenile

 

1st round: March 2nd to March 9th (8 days – maximum of 3 games)

 

First team to get 3 points wins. If upon entering the third game teams are tied in points (2 each), this game will be the “final game” to determine the winner of this series.

 

Note: Game 1 and game 2 can end in a tie with both teams awarded 1 point (no overtime will be played).

 

2nd round: March 10th to March 17th (8 days - maximum of 3 games)

 

First team to get 3 points wins. If upon entering the third game teams are tied in points (2 each), this game will be the “final game” to determine the winner of this series.

 

Note: Game 1 and game 2 can end in a tie with both teams awarded 1 point (no overtime will be played).

 

Finals: March 18th to March 30th (13 days - maximum of 4 games)

 

First team to get 4 points wins. If upon entering the third game, both teams are tied in points (2 points each), this game will be the “final game” to determine the winner of this series (no fourth game will be required to be played). If the “final game” is tied at the end of regulation time then Sudden Victory – Overtime will be required.

District 3 House League Playoff Rules

2013 - 2014 Season

 

Rules: as per the District 3 Constitution, Rules and Regulations

 

  1. Period lengths for the playoffs are

10-10-12 for Atom, Peewee and Juvenile; and

15-15-18 for Bantam and Midget

 

  1. The running time clock must be used at all times for the first and second periods (15 minutes for Atom, Peewee and Juvenile, 25 minutes for Bantam and Midget). The third period must be played completely.

 

  1. The visiting team is allowed to place an adult in the timekeeper’s box to ensure that periods and penalties are timed correctly.

 

  1. Playoff games during the week shall start no earlier than 18:30 or 18:00 if it is between two associations close to one another and they both agree to the scheduled hour (for example Clarence vs Rockland).

 

  1. Each team is permitted one (1) 30 second-time-out in the third period only.

 

  1. If two officials (referees) show up for a game normally officiated using the three man system (Peewee, Bantam, Midget and Juvenile games), both teams must agree to play the game with only two officials and the head coaches must indicate their agreement on the game sheet. If not in agreement, please contact the District House League President immediately, before cancelling the game.

 

  1. The home team shall be responsible for verifying the referees assigned to their game are present (20) minutes prior to game time. In the event of a no-show they are to call Lisa Charbonneau (Ref Assignor) at 613-316-8202.

 

  1. If a higher-rated team is unable to schedule the first game at home due to ice limitations they will play the first game on the road and play the 2nd and 3rd games at home.

 

  1. All teams are required to show up at all scheduled games. Teams can not use tournaments or vacation as a reason to reschedule a game. No games can be cancelled between coaches or associations. Games can only be cancelled by the President of the League or the District chairperson. If for any reason a team does not show up, disciplinary action will be taken by the District and the team will lose their points.

 

 

 

  1. Overtime periods for Atom to Midget (when applicable – see Playoff Timelines) are 10 minutes, stop time, with 5 players and one goaltender for each team. If the score remains tied after one period, subsequent overtime periods will be played until a winner is determined. The team that scores the first goal in the overtime shall be declared the winner.

 

  1. Overtime for Juvenile will be one 10 minute overtime period, 4 on 4 with a goaltender. If teams are still tied at the end of the overtime period they will proceed to a shoutout with three players chosen for each team. Should the score still be tied, coaches shall pick one player at a time until a winner is determined. The same player is not to shoot twice unless all the players have been used.

 

  1. All scores must be reported IMMEDIATELY or within 24 hours to your association VP House league and he/she will contact Frank Brunette (atom to Midget) at 613-677-1129 or by email at frankd3house@gmail.com. Please leave scores with name of team on voicemail if no answer.

 

Frank Brunette and Jackie Bernard will send the scores to the statistician to update the website.

 

  1. All suspension must be reported IMMEDIATELY before the next game or within 24 hours to Frank Brunette or Jackie Bernard by the association VP of house league or their delegate.

 

  1. BE READY TO PLAY AT ANYTIME AS THE NEXT ROUND WILL START AS SOON AS THE TEAMS ARE DETERMINED. As teams are eliminated, Frank Brunette or Jackie Bernard will send the schedule for the next round to the District Webmaster, the RIC, the Ref Assignor, and to the Association Presidents.
